Unit Rates

A rate is a comparison between two quantities with different units. 
            miles per hour; feet per minute; sq ft per day
A unit rate is a special rate with a denominator of 1. 

Proportions

Proportions are statements that two or more rates are equivalent.

Rate of change

A rate of change shows how one quantity changes with respect to another. 
A constant rate of change is known as the constant of proportionality,
