The Resume generally includes information such as your career accomplishments, previous work experience and any skills that are relevant to the position you apply for.

Future employers use resumes to get an idea of who you are and if they want to hire you, which is why it is important to have a resume that stands out from others.

name should be at the top, it can be centered, and is usually l

Yourarger than the rest of the text in your resume.

Remember to include your contact information such as a phone number and/or email address so that employers can contact you if they choose to offer you a job.

Separate each category of the resume by using spaces or lines. This makes it easier for the employer to locate your information.

Steps to Create your Resume

►The second section of your resume should include objectives, accomplishments and your job experiences.

► The objectives section should state what you are looking for in a job.  Example:  Individual seeking a job where my skills can be used in human services.

►The  accomplishment section should  include awards or achievements. Example: employee of the month award from a previous job

The job experience section does not need to be long and do not worry if you do not have previous job experiences.  You may list any volunteer services you provided.

If you do have job experience, you need to explain each job you previously had. Most employers want to know the date you started and ended each position, what your responsibilities were, and the general information about your job (your official job title and the company name).  The most recent job you had, or your current job should be first , followed by the second most recent , third most recent etc.

31

media

►The third sections of your resume is for all of your education experiences, such as graduating from High School. Even if you did not graduate, employers want to know the schools you have attended.  You should list all of the schools and dates you have attended, with the most recent one being first, exactly like the job experiences section.

►The final section is especially for your individual skills or activities, which is unique to you.
There are many different skills for each job you apply for, and employers want to know what makes you the best applicant for the position.

►Remember that your resume is tailored to you. It will reflect your personality, experience, and skills specifically.
Use that to your advantage to inform employers why you are a good job candidate.
