Repetition

The action of repeating something that has already been said or written.

Simile

Comparing one thing with another thing of a different kind using the word like or as .

EX: as brave as a lion, crazy like a fox

Metaphor

A comparison between two unlike things where it states one thing is actually the other.

EX: you are an open book, the exam was a piece of cake

Analogy

A comparison made to show how two things are similar for explanation or clarification.

EX: Time is money so spend it wisely, that book was an emotional rollercoaster

Personification

When a non human thing is given human traits or characteristics.

EX: Death robbed her of happiness, the moon smiled down on me

Imagery

The use of vivid descriptions to make the audience picture the image in their minds and appeals to any of the five senses.

EX: The golden rays of the setting sun reflected upon the clear waters of the lake
