Islam

• Islam is the second largest religion in the world after Christianity.

• The word Islam means submission to the will of Allah.

• Followers of Islam are called Muslims

• Mosques are places were Muslims worship.

• Al-Quba mosque is the first mosque built in Yathrib. Yathrib Is is now called Al-Madinah.

Prophet Muhammad

• Islam emerge in the Arab peninsula after the birth of prophet Muhammad in Makkah.

• Prophet Muhammad, together with his followers left Mecca, 622AD after the people of Mecca were extremely furious with the new religion Islam This event is known as Hijra.

To pray five times a day at dawn, noon afternoon, sunset, and evening.

To fast during the month of Ramadan

To make pilgrimage to Mecca, at least once during a persons lifetime, if the person is able
