Fossils: Different types of fossils.

What are fossils?

A fossil is a preserved animal or plant which died millions of years ago that humans can't keep track of. Fossils are divided into two groups: body fossils and trace fossils.

Trace fossils preserves the remains of how an animal lives. the remains can be footprints and dung or others. This is a trace fossils of a dinosaurs footprints.

There are different fossils and two different ways we see it: cast and mold fossils.

What is a mold fossil?

A mold fossil is a hollow shape like if you press your finger into a piece of clay the shape of you finger is left. This is a mold fossil of a trilobite.

A cast fossil A cast fossil forms when minerals are deposited in a hollow space inside a mold. this is a cast fossil of a shell when an animal once lived in here.
