War in the Philippines

After the Spanish were removed, the Philippine people
rebelled against the United States.

The rebels were led by their leader, Emiliano Aguinaldo,
who argued that the U.S. promised independence.

It took the United States nearly three years to put down a rebellion in the Philippines against U.S. rule.

Afterwards, the U.S. set up a government similar to what they had established in Puerto Rico.

The Philippines remained under the United States until July 4, 1946.
