Adele and her friends used the passé composétense to describe actions completed in the past. Here are some examples of regular verbs in the passé composé tense:
J'ai vu la prof de théâtre ce matin.
Ça fait longtemps que nous n’avons pas travaillé ensemble.
Je n'ai pas fini les devoirs que le prof d’histoire nous a donnés.

Adele and her friends used the imparfait to describe habitual actions, situations,
and actions that did not have a definite ending. Look at some examples from their
conversation:
L’année dernière, nous travaillions ensemble tous les jours.
Quand j’avais 13 ans, je faisais du théâtre avec mon frère.
Nous copiions les gestes de nos acteurs préférés!
Avant, mon père jouait dans l’équipe de football de Nice.

Other prepositions commonly used before words that indicate time and duration are à,en,and dans. Look at these sentences:

Getting a «petit boulot»is a good way to earn money and gather work experience. A petit boulot can let you discover careers you haven't thought of before. A casual job can also help you discover your general strengths and weaknesses. Here are some casual jobs that students often take up:
serveur/serveuse
caissier/caissière
vendeur/vendeuse en magasin
livreur/livreuse de colis
livreur/livreuse de pizza
vendeur/vendeuse à temps partiel
baby-sitter
Remember that we don’t use articles when talking about someone’s occupation. For example, the words serveurand vendeuse in these sentences do not have articles before them:
