How did Hatshepsut get into power?

  • In 1479 BCE Hatshepsut became regent, or a temporary ruler, for her stepson Thutmose III.

  • later she named herself pharaoh

  • We did not know anything about her until 1822 when archeologists were able to decode the hieroglyphic script of her story.
