Simple Present Tense
We use the simple present tense when an action is happening right now, or when it happens regularly. Universal truth also comes under this category.
Rule:- Subject + V1 + Object
Example:- Sun rises in the east.

Present Continuous Tense
It is also referred to as the present progressive tense as they represent the action that is progressing in the present.

Example:- Damon is drinking coffee.
