Computer-Aided Design Vocabulary

Computer-aided design or computer-aided drawing, the use of a computer to create, modify, or analyze a design, typically in an engineering or architecture field.

CAD

​A traditional approach to design, where each component of the model is created independently in its own separate file.

Bottom-up modeling

The focus is on the assembly, and the individual components are modeled around the entire assembly.

The edges of two 2D objects or the adjacent faces of a 3D solid.
