Counting

Counting is important because we use it everyday in our life.
We count our friends in the classroom.
We count our toys.
We count objects and items in the classroom.

Let's count from 1 - 10

Addition/Subtraction

Addition is bringing 2 or more groups together to see how many there are all together. We use the (+) sign for addition.

Subtraction is taking things away from a group to see how many are left. We use the (-) sign for subtraction.

We have 3 oranges and we add (+) 2 more oranges. How many oranges do we have now?
3 + 2 = 5 oranges

Addition (+)

We have 3 oranges and we take away (-) 2 oranges. How many oranges do we have now?
3 - 2 = 1 orange

Addition is when we add 2 or more groups together to see how many we have. (2 apples + 3 apples = 5 apples)

Subtraction is when we take away from a group to see how many we have left. ( 5 apples - 4 apples = 1 apple)
