We use will (short form: ’ll) and will not (short form: won’t)
to make predictions about the future.

  1. When I’m older, I will travel round the world. I will not stay here!

  2. I’m sure you will pass the test tomorrow. The questions will not be very difficult.

  3. In the future, people will take holidays on Mars. But people will not live there.

We use will / won’t + base form of the verb,
and the form is the same for all subjects.

  1. You’ll pass the test.

    You won’t pass the test.

  2. He’ll pass the test.

    He won’t pass the test.

Questions are formed with will + subject + base form of the verb.

  1. Will Andrea go to university?

    Yes, she will. / No, she won’t.

  2. Will your friends come to the party?

    Yes, they will. / No, they won’t.

Time clauses with
when / as soon as

In sentences about the future, we use the present tense

after WHEN or AS SOON AS, and the will future in the main

clause. (like the 1st conditional sentences)

  1. When I’m 18, I’ll go to university.

  2. I’ll call you as soon as I get there.
