Components of Short
Story Movie Project
You and your partner will be able to select
a short story to analyze. There are 18 short
stories. Only one group per class will have
a short story. You will have time to preview
the stories before we start the selection
process. You will fill out a reading analysis
after you have read the short story.
Analyze Short Story
Once your reading analysis is
complete, you will create a movie
trailer using iMovie on an ipad or
Animoto. You will need to cast
actors, find music, and find images
that fit with your story.
Create Movie Trailer
Each person will write a
reflection of their time working
with a partner to create this
project.

5. When you are done reading, I’ll verify that you read the story
and give you the reading analysis.
6
Story Preview

partner which stories you are most interested in.
7
Selection
We will be using the wheel of names to determine the selection order.
8
Time to Read!
Read your story. When you are done, check in with me and I will give
your the reading analysis.
The reading analysis stays in the class and will be collected at the end
of every period. The reading analysis is a major grade and needs to be
completed before moving on the movie trailer.

Movie Trailer
10
Movie trailers are a great way to convince an audience to
come see your film. You want to give them enough of the
story to go see your film, but not so much that you give away
the ending.
Movie Process
This trailer gives away most of the plot
