Simple Future Tense

Structure:

  • Affirmative: Subject + will/shall + base form of the verb

  • Negative: Subject + will/shall not + base form of the verb (won't/shan't)

  • Question: Will/Shall + subject + base form of the verb?

  • Usage:

    • Used for predictions, promises, intentions, decisions, offers, requests, and spontaneous decisions.

    • Example: I will call you later. (promise)

  • Structure:

    • Affirmative: Subject + am/is/are + going to + base form of the verb

    • Negative: Subject + am/is/are + not + going to + base form of the verb

    • Question: Am/Is/Are + subject + going to + base form of the verb?

  • Usage:

    • Used for intentions, plans, predictions based on present evidence, and future events that seem certain.

    • Example: They are going to buy a new car next month. (plan/intention)

Future Continuous Tense:

  • Structure:

    • Affirmative: Subject + will be + present participle (verb-ing)

    • Negative: Subject + will not be + present participle

    • Question: Will + subject + be + present participle?

  • Usage:

    • Used for actions that will be ongoing at a specific time in the future or for polite inquiries.

    • Example: They will be waiting for you at the airport. (ongoing action)

  • Structure:

    • Affirmative: Subject + will/shall + have + past participle (verb3)

    • Negative: Subject + will/shall not + have + past participle

    • Question: Will/Shall + subject + have + past participle?

  • Usage:

    • Used for actions that will be completed before a certain time in the future.

    • Example: By next year, she will have finished her degree. (completed action)
