What Is an Art Movement?

Surrealism is an art movement.
An art movement is a group of
artists who use similar styles.

A French poet began surrealism
during the 1920s. At first, the
surrealist group was only for
writers and poets but artists were
later allowed to join. Artists were
encouraged to express their
thoughts through their art,
without any rules or limits. It was
a chance for them to go beyond
the real world.
