Seperti telah disebutkan sebelumnya, procedure text adalah salah satu jenis teks yang berfungsi untuk menginformasikan kepada pembaca tentang langkah-langkah melakukan sesuatu. (Procedure text is a text which aims to inform the readers about the steps to do something).

​Biasanya, teks ini diawali dengan “How to……”, V_ing atau langsung nama makanan, minuman, atau alat elektronik

Contohnya, “How to Operate a Digital Camera” atau “How to make Fried Chicken”, "Operating a Digital Camera", "Digital Camera"

  1. The social function of procedure text is to inform the reader about how to do something in sequence of steps

  2. To tell the readers how to make or do something. (untuk memberitahukan pembaca cara membuat atau melakukan sesuatu)

  3. To get the best result efficiently. (untuk mendapatkan hasil terbaik secara efisien)

  4. To avoid accidents, damage, unnecessary waste. (untuk menghindari kecelakaan, kerusakan, atau mubazir)_ dalam procedure MANUAL

1. Aim/Goal

Aim ini merupakan tujuan dari Procedure text. Biasanya berupa judul atau apa yang akan dibuat atau dilakukan.

2. Materials

Bagian ini memuat daftar bahan dan alat untuk menyelesaikan procedure text tersebut.

3. Steps

Bagian steps berisi serangkaian langkah - langkah yang harus dilakukan dengan secara berurutan.

LANGUAGE FEATURES OF PROCEDURE TEXT (Unsur kebahasaan teks procedure)

  • Menggunakan pola kalimat perintah (Imperative). Contohnya "Cut the banana into pieces" , "Don't mix the coconut milk with water" , "Heat the water for 5 minutes", 

  • Menggunakan action verbs, misalnya crack, chop, cut, heat, mix, 

  • Menggunakan adverbs seperti first, second, next, then, finally, while

  • Menggunakan simple present tense.
