Types of Weather

A prolonged period of excessively hot weather, often accompanied by high humidity. Heatwaves can lead to heat-related illnesses and stress on ecosystems.

​​Heatwave

A prolonged period of abnormally low precipitation, resulting in water shortages and dry conditions. Droughts can lead to crop failures, water restrictions, and environmental damage.

Drought

A type of storm characterized by hailstones falling from the sky. Hailstones are solid balls of ice that form within strong thunderstorms and can cause damage to property and crops.

Hail

A violent rotating column of air that extends from a thunderstorm to the ground. Tornadoes are capable of causing widespread destruction and are often accompanied by strong winds and hail.

Tornado

A powerful tropical cyclone with sustained winds of at least 74 miles per hour (119 kilometers per hour). Hurricanes can cause extensive damage to coastal areas, including flooding, storm surges, and wind damage.

Hurricane

A seasonal wind pattern that brings heavy rainfall to certain regions. Monsoons are common in South Asia and other parts of the world and can lead to flooding and landslides.
