In India, family is very important. Most
of the time, people live very close to
their relatives. This allows them to
spend more time together which gives
them a better quality of life!

Quality of Life in India

We are so lucky because we get to go to
school. We study English, math, social studies
and Hindu. We really enjoy our classes at
school and hope to go to university one day.
We wear uniforms to school but we don’t mind
- it saves us from having to choose our outfits.

Some kids are not so lucky and they must
work instead of going to school. That would
not make us very happy.

We are so lucky to have delicious food
to eat. Aniyah’s favourite dish is a
bread called chapati and she eats it
with everything! I (Nevin) love chicken
curry and dal (which is lentils).
On hot days we love eating fresh fruit!

Draw

Here are some Classic Indian Foods. Have you tried any of these? CIRCLE what you've tried, and draw a check mark if you really LOVE it!

(Mr. Kirkpatrick LOVES Indian food!)

I LOVE playing cricket with my friends! It is a
team sport where we use a wooden bat to hit
a ball. I also like to watch sports on television
with my father and grandfather.

When Aniyah and I play chess, she usually
wins, but don’t tell her I said that!

I really love practicing yoga with my whole
family. Everyone joins in and it is a really special
time for us.

I also enjoy chess, Nevin is such a good sport,
he plays with me all the time but I usually win!
He always learns new tricks though, I am sure
one day he will be the one winning!

I also help my grandmother and mother with the
cooking and cleaning.

When we go and visit our aunt and uncle in the big
city of New Delhi we take the train. The train station
and the trains are SO crowded.
All around New Delhi people are selling things on
the street such as food, clothing, shoes and
jewellery.

In New Delhi it can be loud and busy but there are
a lot of places we can go to explore and enjoy.
Bicycles are very popular in the big cities
especially. Sometimes we even see three people
riding ONE bike at the same time! Isn’t that crazy!
