Nouns:person, place, thing

Just like in English, but in Spanish nouns are feminine or masculine.

la chica (f) las chicas **Notice that in Spanish the article (the in this case) becomes plural as
el chico (m) los chicos well when the noun is plural.

la escuela (f) las escuelas If we use another article for the noun like
a then that would be
el museo (m) los museos masculine or feminine also to match the noun.

la manzana (f) las manzanas un chico una chica
el coche (m) los coches

Nouns continued....how do you know if it is masculine or feminine?

Usually if a noun ends in an -a then it is feminine

If it ends in a consonant or another vowel it is usually masculine. There are some exceptions to this and you just have to memorize them.

Ex. la mano (f) the hand
el agua (f) still feminine but EL is used so that there are not 2 As in a row (la agua)

Spanish Verbs

Verbs in Spanish are words that end in
-ar, -er, -ir

Examples:
-ar -er -ir
hablar comer abrir
caminar tener escribir
cerrar ser ir

**These forms are called the infinitive. They are the resting form of the verb or the definition. Same as in English (to eat, to be, to write)

HABLAR

Yo hablo Nostoros hablamos
Tù hablas Vosotros
Èl habla Ellas hablan

In Spanish the verb ending changes to tell you the form of the verb

TO TALK

I talk We talk
You talk You all talk
He/She talks They talk

In English, we change the pronoun and the verb stays mostly the same
