Purpose: Reinforcement and deep practice on Present perfect and past simple besides Unit 9 Project designing.

5
The present perfect tense is often used to tell up-to-date news.
‘Great news! Jane has had a baby!’
6
Examples
Great news! Jane has had a baby yesterday!’
So, to ask about and give more details, you need to use the past simple.
‘Great news! Jane has had a baby!’
‘When did she have it?’
‘She had it last night!’
7
Present perfect vs Past simple
The present perfect and past simple may appear in the same sentence:
I’ve lived here since I was a child.
Tom has been unemployed since he left the factory.
8
Remember
The past simple can be used with phrases relating to finished time, such as:
yesterday, last week, last month, in 2010, two weeks ago
9
Remember
The present perfect is used to describe periods of time that start in the past and continue until the present. It is often used with for and since.

Hi Chris!
Thanks for your email. It's great to hear from you! I'm so excited to come and finally seeing you, it's been ages!
So... let's cut the chase! About Friday, I'd love to see your friend's band! What kind of music do they play? I'm thinking about starting a band myself so a quick peek will be really interesting.
On Saturday I'd rather go on a boat trip on the river. I'm not into football at all, not my cup of tea, you know... But I'm a sucker for new adventures and nature.
I'm really looking forward to seeing you!
Love,
Sondra
