Melody

•  The term Melody comes from the Greek word for singing or chanting.
  
  
  

• Melody is a sequence of notes that is designed to be memorable for a listener

• Melody can also be defined as a recognizable sequence of notes, a certain combination of pitch and rhythm that lingers in the memory.

  
  

• It is the main voice or tune we hear in a piece of music.

Qualities of a Good Melody

​1.      A good Melody should be Singable with leaps of a 3^rd

• For Instance: In Grade 4 we learnt solfa syllables from Do to mi

• From Do to mi makes up an interval of a third.
