When I was about 10, a family friend, also 10, and I were hanging out behind our ski house in VT. Another friend was a younger girl, about 8, who was sliding around on the frozen pond behind the house. We heard a “CRACK!” and some screaming. She had fallen through the ice. We couldn’t pull her out, so we jumped in and lifted her out. Then we scrambled to pull ourselves out and we carried her back to the house. If we weren’t there, she would have frozen in a matter of minutes. Thank the gods for hot chocolate! | My Holiday at home Last holiday was my worst holiday because I did not go anywhere. I just stayed in my home. In the morning, I woke up and had a breakfast. After that, I played with my cat. In the afternoon, I had a lunch and after that I took a nap. In the evening. I watched untill I felt boring. My daily activities were like that during the holiday. So, I was sure last holiday was my worst holiday. |

Last year was the best experience I’ve ever got. I was the first winner of singing competition I love singing since I was kid. I practiced so hard before the D-day. My parents were really supportive. They helped me to practice and prepared healthy food for me. They also gave me motivation to believe in myself. That’s why winning singing competition meant so much to me. | When we arrived in Lamongan, the bus stopped at a small restaurant for a rest. I got off the bus to get a cup of ginger tea, and my friend drank some cold lemonade. Then I went to the toilet. It took only a few minutes. When I came out again, the bus was not there. It had gone! My friend was not there too. Feeling shocked and confused, I asked a waitress about the bus. She said that the bus departed about five minutes ago. I tried to call my friend on my cell-phone, but the battery was running low. I could not do anything but hope and pray. After several minutes, my wish came true. The bus came back! I got on the bus and walked to my seat. I was so ashamed when everybody on the bus looked at me. I could feel my face turn red. |
