Descriptive Writing?

What is descriptive writing?

It is a type of writing that creates an image in the reader's mind.

It includes how something looks, sounds, smells, tastes or feels.

This type of writing is used to illustrate imagery to create a clear
picture in the mind of the reader.

Adjectives

An adjective is a word that tells us more information about a noun.

They are often used in descriptive writing (they help us to understand more clearly)

Examples of adjectives: big,dry, awesome and crowded.

Using Adjectives

First main place in a sentence that we use adjectives:

Adjetive + Noun

Example: I reached down and touched the damp grass.

Second main place in a sentence that we use adjectives:

Noun + Linking Verb+Adjective

I was shocked that in all my years away, nothing had changed.

Using Multiple Adjectives

● We can use more than one adjective before a noun.
● When we do this, we use a comma (,) between each

Example Sentences:

● Soft, white clouds floated across the sky. (texture,color)
● My friend is a talented, young musician. ( opinion, age)
● That car is a beautiful, older, Italian model. ( opinion, age,

origin)
