Comparative adjectives

To form the comparative, just add '-er' to the base form of the adjectives.

However, there might be some changes in the comparatives.

  • If the base form ends in '-e', add just an '-r' (wise + r ---> wiser)

  • If the base form ends in '-y', the 'y' turns into 'i', then add '-er' (friendly + er ---> friendlier)

  • If the adjective consists of one syllable, ends in one consonant with a short vowel before that, double the last consonant (big +er ---> bigger)
