​In Spanish a verb can have it's meaning transformed or adjusted in many ways. We will go through some popular phrasal verbs in Spanish that will be extremely useful in speaking. Usually phrasal verbs will consist of a verb and a few additional words that make the phrasal verb.
In English there are also phrasal verbs and here are a few examples:

  • I am looking after my neighbour's dog(to look after = care for)

  • They broke up last week( break up = to leave/end a relationship)

  • He gave up on school( give up = to stop trying)

​Other Examples

  • Echar de menos (to miss someone or something) Example: Echaré de menos las vacaciones en la playa.[I will miss beach vacations.]

  • Tratar de(to try to) Example: Traté de abrirlo pero no pude.[I tried to open it but I couldn't]

  • Seguir adelante (to continue, to move forward) Example: A pesar de las dificultades, decidió seguir adelante con su proyecto.[Despite the difficulties, he decided to continue with his project.]
