Properties of Matter

LO: SWBAT will classify objects based on their
properties of flexibility and texture.

DOL: Given a problem, SW classify objects based
on their properties of flexibility and texture.

There are many ways to classify, sort, or group matter. You
can use your five senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch and
taste) to organize matter by properties. Using your five
senses, you can observe the physical properties of matter.
You can classify matter by texture andflexibility. Once
matter is classified and organized into groups, you can
identify other matter with the same properties.

Image using Great Minds

Birds are living organisms. Did you
know not all birds can fly?
Ostriches for example are birds
that do not fly and lay their eggs on
the ground.

Think of how this may affect the
materials needed for their nest. Use
your knowledge of the flexibility
and texture to develop a nest for
their eggs.
