What is Unity ?

“Unity is a cross-platform game engine
developed by Unity Technologies, first
announced and released in June 2005 at Apple
Inc.'s Worldwide Developers Conference as a
Mac OS X-exclusive game engine. As of 2018,
the engine had been extended to support more
than 25 platforms” Wikipedia

Game Engine?

A game engine contains five components: The
main game program which contains the game
logic; a rendering engine which can be used to
generate 3D animated graphics; an audio engine
which consists of algorithms which are related to
sounds; a physics engine to implement 'physical'
laws within the system; and Artificial
intelligence, a module designed to be used by
software engineers with a specialist designation.

The Unity Experiments

The Unity Experiments is a site full of guided
tutorials to show you the concepts of making
worlds and making things move and then having
those things react to things happening around
them.

You need to complete an experiment to move on to
the next one.

To demonstrate completion for assessment, you will
need to upload code and/or screenshots to Google
Classroom.

The Unity Experiments

Important..

People are going to move at a different pace to
those around them.. Do not judge your progress on
your friends work. We are watching your level of
effort more than your completion.

The Unity Experiments

Each experiment has an overview, activity and
an exercise:

The Overview explains the new concept or
features you will be working on in each
experiment to prepare you for the hands-on
activity.

The Activity contains a Step By Step Guide
containing images and videos to help you
complete the activity using the Unity®
software.

The Exercise tests your knowledge of each
experiment using a series of fun activities such
as dragging and dropping words to complete a
paragraph, dragging words onto the correct
positions in images, multiple choice questions,
choose the correct statement games and more.

Audio prompts
You will see a lot of audio player
controls throughout the site.
They read out the text that is written in that
section. It’s your choice to read or listen.

Video Prompts
There are a lot of short demo videos that show
what to do in that section. The early ones have no
audio.
It is demonstrated on a mac, but the locations for
things are very similar.
The square in the bottom right is used to make the
video larger / go fullscreen
