​Many verbs in Spanish have irregular "Yo" forms in the present tense.

​You have already seen some:
decir - digo
tener - tengo
venir - vengo

​Common expressions with decir.

  • decir la verdad - to tell the truth

    Mi madre siempre dice la verdad. My mom always tells the truth.

  • decir mentiras - to tell lies

    Mi hermano dice mentiras. My brother tells lies.

  • decir que - to say that

    Ella dice que está bien. She says that she is well.

  • decir la respuesta - to say the answer

    Los estudiantes dicen la respuesta a las preguntas. The students say the answer to the questions.

    • salir de - to say someone is leaving a place.

    • salir para - is used to indicate someone's destination.

    • salir con - means to leave with someone or something, to to date someone.
