Verbs with irregular YO forms

​Many verbs in Spanish have irregular "Yo" forms in the present tense.

​You have already seen some:
decir - digo
tener - tengo
venir - vengo

​Common expressions with decir.

• decir la verdad - to tell the truth

  Mi madre siempre dice la verdad. My mom always tells the truth.

• decir mentiras - to tell lies

  Mi hermano dice mentiras. My brother tells lies.

• decir que - to say that

  Ella dice que está bien. She says that she is well.

• decir la respuesta - to say the answer

  Los estudiantes dicen la respuesta a las preguntas. The students say the answer to the questions.

has an irregular yo form and the spelling change i:y in the tú, usted/él/ella, and ustedes/ellos/ellas forms. The nosotros/as form has an accent mark.
