You can probably tell which objects and substances around you are solid, liquid or gas by the way they look, feel, and act. What you see are physical properties.

Physical properties are they way something looks, feels, or acts.

4

Examples of physical properties include:

  • Solid, liquid, or gas at room temperature

  • What temperature it freezes and boils at

  • Appearance (colour, texture, and shape)

  • If it is hard or brittle

  • If it can dissolve in water

5
