THE MUMMIES
Long ago, in the land of Egypt, people believed in life after death. They thought that when someone died, their spirit would need a body to return to. To make sure the body was preserved, they created mummies. Ancient Egyptians washed the body first before making the mummy. Mummies were dried for 40 days and then carefully wrapped in bandages with special oils. Sometimes, Egyptians painted a face on the mummies, and they also made mummies of cats. These preserved bodies were kept in pyramids to protect them for the afterlife.
