THE NERVOUS SYSTEM

The nervous system is a complex network of specialized cells called neurons that transmit signals between different parts of the body. It is responsible for receiving sensory input, processing this information, and generating responses. The nervous system is divided into two main parts:

  1. Central Nervous System (CNS): This includes the brain and spinal cord. The CNS processes information and coordinates activities throughout the body.

  2. Peripheral Nervous System (PNS): This consists of all the nerves outside the CNS. It connects the CNS to the limbs and organs, facilitating communication between the brain and the rest of the body12.

The primary function of the nervous system is to maintain internal order by coordinating muscle and organ activities, receiving input from sensory organs, and triggering appropriate responses
