Take notes on this lesson
you will have an open notes quiz next week when I return
This quiz will include information on Bar Graphs, Line Graphs, Scatter plot (best fit line) and Pie Charts.
You have a sub all week, so it is up to you to get good notes and get everything done.
2
Bar Graphs
Bar graphs are used when you are comparing different groups or things.
example: amount of people that like DIFFERENT types of movies

5
Notice in the example, each axis tells us what is measured and in what units.
y axis is temp in Celcius
x axis is time in minutes
(I know its hard to see )
Bar graphs have an X and a Y axis. These Axis must be labeled with what is being measured and the UNITS in which they are being measured.
6
Multiple Choice
What information is on the X axis?
Number of students
Month
Color of bar
7
-The axis must also have equal intervals.
-Scales can be counted by 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 10s,.....etc
-You CANNOT skip numbers
-You do not have to start at zero, but you usually do
-Notice in the example, the Y axis starts at zero, counts up by 5s every time, and no numbers are skipped
8

Vehicle color
Frequency of collision
Number of people
Cost of collisions
9
The bars on a Bar graph must be evenly spaced and are frequently colored to tell them easily apart.
And you should always try to number your axis so that you use as much verticle space as possible. (Dont have too much blank space at the top of the Bar Graph)
