Introduction B is the best one because it
rewords essay question, doesn’t give writer’s
position (this isn’t asked for in question) and
gives an outline sentence.
Introduction A, instead of an outline
sentence, states the writer’s opinion and this is
not required in a problems and solutions essay.
Introduction C repeats the wording from the
question, rather than rewording it.

Paragraph 1
About: Introduction.
It restates the essay question, mentions that mass tourism brings opportunities but also environmental costs, and explains how the essay will be organized (first problems, then solutions).
8
Paragraph 2
About: Problems caused by tourism.
Explains environmental problems of mass tourism, such as carbon emissions from air travel, pressure on resources (water, electricity), and pollution from waste (especially single-use plastics).
9
Paragraph 4
About: Conclusion.
Summarises the problems and solutions, and emphasizes that solutions will only succeed if everyone works together to implement them.
10
Paragraph 3
About: Solutions to the problems.
Suggests ways to reduce tourism’s impact:
Encourage cleaner transport like trains.
Governments limiting tourist numbers.
Reducing single-use plastic waste (e.g., banning plastic bottles, giving free metal bottles).

Paragraph 2: C
A is too general,
B is too specific.
Paragraph 3: A.
B is too specific – this would come later in the paragraph.
C is too specific for a topic sentence, and also gives an opinion, which isn’t what the question is asking for.
