Renewable Energy
Renewable Energy is energy that nature replaces. Renewable energy used today comes from the Sun,water, or wind. Renewable energy is sustainable-it can continue without damaging the environment.
Large-scale projects, such as the Arab Republic of Egypt's Benban Solar Park, one of the biggest solar installations in the world, support renewable energy. The Egyptian site will power 1,000,000 homes
Throughout the region, new technologies are developing. Crops that can still grow during drought help farmers handle reduced rainfall. Desalination Technologies turn seawater into drinkable water. These efforts show that while climate change is a serious issue, people are coming up with solutions.
3
The Power of Youth
Young people worldwide are becoming a powerful force in climate action. This includes the youth of the MENA region. Here are some ways they are leading the charge.
·Youth organizations, such as the Arab Youth Climate Movement, are making a difference. They organize beach cleanups. They plant trees to combat desertification-the process of land losing plant life and turning into desert.
Young volunteers help educate others about climate change. They create social media content, host school workshops, and speak at community events to raise awareness about environmental challenges and solutions.
Young scientists and innovators from the region are developing solutions to address problems caused by climate change. For example,Tunisian students have created an app that helps farmers monitor soil moisture, use water the best way possible, and increase crop yields in areas that often get droughts.
Learning more about climate change is the first step to taking action.
