Hyperbole
An exaggeration that

Idiom
A group of words whose
collective meaning is not the
same as their individual, literal
meaning.
Ex: It’s raining cats and dogs.

Irony
The expression of one's
meaning by using language
that normally signifies the
opposite, typically for humorous
or emphatic effect.
Alternatively, irony is also
defined as “a state of affairs or
an event that seems
deliberately contrary to what
one expects and is often
amusing as a result.”
Examples:
1. A cop gets
arrested.
2. A police station
gets robbed.
3. A fire station burns
down.
4. An oncologist is
diagnosed with
cancer.
5. A duck that can't
swim.
