Everyone has times when they have to try something new!

Sometimes writing takes more than one try to get better. That is why you brainstorm ideas and write a first draft to make sure your writing is just how you want it. Today, you will write a first draft!

Narrative writing tells a story.

Narrative writing can be:

  • fiction or nonfiction;

  • told from the point of view of the author or another person; and

  • in chronological or nonchronological order.

Today, you will complete step two of the writing process. You will write your first draft. Remember, a draft is just your first copy. It will not be perfect.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when writing your draft.

  1. Start your writing with an introductory sentence.

  2. Your writing should be three to four paragraphs.

  3. Write your ideas in a sequence or order that makes sense.

  4. End your writing with a conclusion.
