I want you to consider the difficulty scale we have covered in previous weeks. Based on this scale, what do you think you should be drawing? Pick something and do a practice sketch. NO FAN ART, NO TRACING. You will not improve unless you practice properly.

The rule of nine helps to keep work grounded and clear, it is common for ametuer artists to get caught up in the use of colour and not understand the impact of value in the painting work.

There is highlight, shadow and midtone.

What is the rule of nine?
How is this rule important, what is it used for?
Review this image What can you tell me about the values in the image itself?

Challenge 03:

Putting into practice:

I want you now to try and put value painting into practice using clipping masks and turning 2D shapes into 3D shapes. You need to pick your nine greys. Where you attempted this you should place it into your WordPress where you have spoken about the rule of nine.

Stretch and challenge: If you have completed this challenge then pick one of the animal/creature drawings you have done and using the same principles as above try applying value.
