(people and things) are adjectives.

Rules for adjectives
Adjectives must agree (match) the noun they are describing in:
adjective- noun agreement in GENDER & NUMBER.

Rules for adjectives- Gender
If the noun is feminine, the adjective is feminine.
If the noun is masculine, the adjective is masculine.

If the noun is singular, the adjective is singular.
If the noun is plural, the adjective is plural.
