SIMPLE PAST TENSE

​Pengertian

Simple past tense adalah tenses yang membicarakan aktivitas atau peristiwa yang terjadi pada masa lampau. Aktivitas dan peristiwa tersebut dimulai pada masa lalu dan sudah berakhir sebelum masa sekarang.

PATTERN

VERB 2 ( REGULAR )

Verb 2 merupakan kata kerja lampau yang identik dengan akhiran -ed. Kata kerja ini disebut sebagai regular verb.
Kata kerja beraturan diubah dengan cara yang sangat mudah, karena hanya menambahkan “d” atau “ed” pada huruf terakhir.

Contoh:

Add : Added Brush : Brushed

Allow : Allowed Close : Closed

Bake : Baked Change : Changed

Book : Booked

VERB 2 ( IRREGULAR )

Kata kerja tidak beraturan atau irregular verbs memiliki bentuk kata kerja bentuk kedua (V2) yang khusus (Bisa kalian cari di kamus)

Contoh:

Arise : Arose Cling : Clung

Burn : Burnt Come : Came

Catch : Caught Fly : Flew

Choose : Chose Forget : Forgot

NOTE!

Di dalam past tense kita menggunakan kata kerja kedua. Kata kerja kedua bisa disebut sebagai Past simple, atau Verb 2. 

• Keterangan waktu dipakai untuk melengkapi suatu kalimat. Ada beberapa keterangan waktu dalam past tense yang secara umum digunakan, misalnya, last year, last morning, last night, yesterday, two days ago, three weeks ago.

Mother cooked fried rice this morning. (Regular verb)

Anna went to school by car yesterday. (Irregular verb)

(-) Subject + did not + Verb 1 + Object + Adverb of past.

Mother did not cook noodle this morning.

Anna did not go to school by bicycle yesterday.

(?) Did + Subject + Verb 1 + Object + Adverb of past ?

Did mother cook fried rice this morning?

Anna She go to school by car yesterday?
