LO: SWBAT identify and predict patterns of change in
seasons.
DOL: Given scenarios, SW correctly identify and predict
patterns of change in seasons in at least 4 of 5
questions.
SCI.4.9A Collect and analyze data to identify sequences and predict patterns of change in seasons such as change in temperature
and length of daylight
SEPs 4.1A, 4.1G, 4.2B, 4.3A

Do Now
A student constructed this circuit for a science experiment, expecting it to
work when the switch was closed, but nothing happened.
Describe what might be wrong with
this circuit and explain how you
would troubleshoot it. In your
answer, consider the role of each
component, including the "Mystery
Material," and how it might affect the
flow of electricity.

What patterns in daylight can be observed during seasons?

In summer, the Sun takes a long path through the sky and reaches a
higher point. In winter, the Sun takes a short path through the sky and
reaches a lower point.

Seasons
Describe what you see in the
illustration.
The Sun’s path is the
apparent motion of the
Sun across the sky.
The Sun has a different path in summer than in winter, which
causes the change in hours of daylight. The apparent motion of
the Sun is due to Earth’s motion around the sun.
