Our goal

By the end of this presentation, you should walk away with:

  • it's impact on student engagement in the physical and/or digital classroom space

  • reasons why Quizizz is an excellent partner in creating accessible online content and assessments.

Why is this important? Why should we, as science educators, care?

The number of public school students receiving services through IDEA, aged 3 to 21, increased from 6.4 million during the 2012-2013 academic year to 7.5 million during the 2022-2023 school year.

  • the most common category was specific learning disability (32%) (NCES May 2024)

  • During the 2022-2023 school year, 12 to 21% of public school students in all 50 states and DC receiving special education services under IDEA (NCES May 2024)

  • Best practice: accommodate learner variability (ISTE 4.4c, ISTE 2.5a)

  • Broaden our audience, generate interest, diversity in the workplace, foster greater public understanding, etc.

  • We cannot expect our students to achieve high marks if we don't meet them where they are
