VERB TENSE REVIEW - Present

In Latin, the present tense uses the present stem (from the 2nd principal part) and the endings -o, -s, -t, -mus, -tis, -nt

e.g. mitto, mittere, misi, missum

The present stem comes from the 2nd principal part mittere, without the -re. So the present forms are mitto, mittis, mittit, mittimus, mittitis, mittunt. (Note, the short e sometimes changes to an i or u.)

The Pluperfect Tense

Another tense in Latin is the Pluperfect Tense. While the Perfect Tense happens in the past, the Pluperfect Tense happens further back in the past.

Perfect Tense - He ran, he did run, he has run
Pluperfect Tense - He had run

She apologized because she had done bad things in the past.
He was tired because he had worked hard all day.
