What is a citation?
A citation consists of mentioning in a paragraph or text the words that an author has written or said.
In short words, is when you want to add in your paragraph or text an information or a phrase that an author did.

We use citations to:
- Attribute information
- Support our arguments
- Clarify or illustrate information from an expert
- To avoid plagiarism in our arguments.

How can we identify a citation in a paragraph:
Looking for quotation marks: Direct quotes are often enclosed in quotation marks.
Paying attention to attribution: Quotes are often followed by a reference to the author or source.
Style and formatting: Quotes may have a different style, such as italics or a different font size

1st step
The first thing that you have to know is that there are 3 types of citation, which are:
1. APA (American Psychological Association): Social Studies
2. MLA (Modern Language Association): Literature
3. Chicago/Turabian: History and other Sciences

APA EXAMPLE
Format: "Quoted Text" + (Last name Author, year of publication).
On the other hand, "the interconnection between different disciplines has allowed for a more holistic approach to solving complex problems.
