Read the text and answer the questions below.
The Busy Beehive
1.In a quiet meadow, a beehive buzzes with activity. Each bee has an important role. The
worker bees collect nectar from flowers to make honey. They fly from blossom to
blossom, filling their tiny bodies with nectar. This sweet liquid is brought back to the hive
and turned into honey, which the bees store for food. Without the worker bees gathering
nectar, the hive would have no honey to survive the cold winter.
2.Inside the hive, the queen bee lays eggs. Her job is to ensure that the bee colony grows.
She is much larger than the other bees and stays deep inside the hive, surrounded by
worker bees who take care of her. The queen is essential because, without her, there
would be no new bees to continue the work.
3.Nearby, a bear sniffs the air, drawn by the sweet scent of honey. Bears love honey and
will go to great lengths to find it. They use their strong paws to tear apart hives, hoping for
a sweet reward. However, the bees defend their hive fiercely, stinging the bear until it
retreats.
4.On the far side of the meadow, a gentle breeze blows, causing the tall grass to sway.
This breeze also helps the flowers by spreading their pollen from one plant to another.
Bees, like the wind, are important pollinators. As they collect nectar, they accidentally
carry pollen from flower to flower, helping plants grow and reproduce. Without bees,
many plants wouldn’t be able to make seeds or fruits.
