The Importance of Eating Breakfast
Do you often skip breakfast? Many people do, but it may affect your ability to think and learn effectively. Skipping this meal can leave you feeling hungry, fatigued, or irritable by mid-morning. Why does this happen? After waking up, your body has been fasting for around eight hours, causing low glucose levels. Glucose is the primary fuel your brain needs to function properly. Eating breakfast raises your glucose levels, giving your brain the energy required for mental tasks, which is particularly important for performing well at school.
9
But what if you're short on time or not hungry in the morning? It is still better to consume something, even if it's just milk or juice, and follow it up with a nutritious snack later, such as yogurt, dry cereal, cheese, or fruit. And if you dislike traditional breakfast foods, you can still eat healthy options you enjoy, like cold pizza or a fruit smoothie. In short, there is no excuse for skipping this vital meal.
