An activist is someone who cares a lot about something important and works hard to make it better. They might try to help the environment, make sure everyone is treated fairly, or protect animals. Activists talk to people, share their ideas, and sometimes organise events to raise awareness and create change. Think of them like superheroes who use their voices and actions to help others!

Often they would make speeches or protest!

William Wilberforce
William Wilberforce was a kind man who wanted to help people. He worked very hard to stop slavery, which is when people are forced to work without getting paid and are treated very badly. Wilberforce told others about how unfair this was and asked them to help change the laws. Because of his efforts, many people learned how important it is to treat everyone fairly, and slavery was eventually made illegal. He showed that one person can make a big difference!

Emmeline Pankhurst

Emmeline Pankhurst was a brave woman who fought for women’s rights, especially the right to vote. A long time ago, women weren’t allowed to vote in elections, and Emmeline thought that was very unfair. She started a group to help women speak up and be heard. Emmeline and her friends worked really hard, sometimes even protesting, to show people that women should have the same rights as men. Because of her courage and determination, women were able to vote, which is super important for everyone to have a say in how things are run!
This group of women were called Suffragettes

Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks was a brave woman who helped fight for equal rights. One day, she was riding a bus and was asked to give up her seat to a white person, but she said no because she believed everyone should be treated the same. Because of that, she got in trouble, but her brave choice made a lot of people think about how unfair it was for some people to be treated differently just because of the color of their skin. Rosa Parks inspired many others to stand up for what is right, and her actions helped change the laws so everyone could be treated equally!
