Students are going to identifying the elements of and make predictions using arithmetic sequences.

Concepts:

​Procedure:

1) Identify the common difference (d).
2) Identify the first term.
3) Substitute them into the explicit formula.
4) Simplify into a linear function.

​Example 1:

Find the common difference, the first term, write a linear function, and find a(20).
Sequence: 2, 7, 12, 17...

​Example 2:

Find the common difference, the first term, write a linear function, and find a(32).
Sequence: 34, 27, 20, 13...

​Example 3:

Find the common difference, the first term, write a linear function, and find a(54).
Sequence: 4, 7, 10, 13...
