When making a prediction, you use clues from the text to guess what will happen next.
Similarly, foreshadowing is when an author gives clues to hint at something that will happen later on in the story.
Foreshadowing generates a feeling of anticipation or suspense in a story that compels people to keep reading, watching, or listening to the story.
Sometimes, the clues are obvious, but other times, they are more subtle.
Some clues may not be obvious until you get to the end of the story.
