Figurative language is a way of using words to convey meaning in a non-literal way. It's a type of descriptive language that uses creative wording to create imagery and convey complex ideas.

Types of figurative language
Simile - A comparison using "like" or "as."
Example: "Her smile was as bright as the sun."
Metaphor - A direct comparison, saying something is, are, was, or were something else.
Example: "The world is a stage."
Personification - Giving human qualities to non-human things.
Example: "The wind whispered through the trees."
Hyperbole - An exaggerated statement.
Example: "I’ve told you a million times!"
Alliteration - Repetition of the same initial consonant sound in nearby words.
Example: "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers."
Onomatopoeia - A word that imitates a sound.
Example: "The bees buzzed in the garden."
