Mini meetings
For the next few slides/questions, you'll have time to write a message for an imagined situation. Prepare to think carefully & type more than normal.
3
Open Ended
Writing a good email is hard. Imagine you're in a situation just like J.J. from the book, seeking additional clients & reaching out to folks you know. Let's say it's a professional you met somewhere like Sonscreen Film Festival. What do you say? 1) Imagine someone specific & real. 2) Write the email.
4
Open Ended
Now let's imagine you're reaching out just to stay in touch. Imagine someone specific & real that you haven't had contact with for a few months. How will you reach out to them? Which form fits best: Text? Email? Handwritten note? Tell us (1) what form you'd use, (2) who you're reaching out to, & (3) what you'd say [actually write the message].

The book suggests that you can be direct or indirect or a combination when following up. It says that after a meeting, you should send a thank-you note within twenty-four hours. It also says you should follow up three times and then move on. Let's imagine this is the second follow-up message to a buyer—the one after the thank you. The buyer hasn't replied to anything since the meeting when they agreed to look over your proposal in detail.
What do you say now? Write the message.

The next few slides/questions will poll you about how difficult the books "Ten Ways to Say No" really are. You may want to have the book open to this section for reference—it starts on page 232.
